Dutch softwaredevelopment on the Turkish Rivièra

Starsale B.V. from Enschede, the Netherlands, has opened a software development center in the turkish city of Antalya, where Turkish programmers develop internet software for projects in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, The United Kingdom and Turkey.

Peter Langela, managing director of Starsale, does not see Turkey as a country where software development can be done for discountprices.

"In Turkey, the salaries are a little bit lower than in western europe and are working hours a little longer, but much more important is the availability of technicians with a bachelor or universal degree. Antalya is the most rapidly growing city in Turkey, and is with one and a half million inhabitants in terms of dimension twice the size of Amsterdam. Beside these reasons, Enschede has five airports within the range of a journey of one and a half hours, which multiple flights to Antalya daily, through which our turkish office can be reached rapidly and inexpensive.Our office is located on the hightech park West Mediterranean Technopolis, part of the campus of the University of Antalya, where we use modern offices and high speed internetaccess", according to Peter Langela.

Also the local market has promising business opportunities. "The turkish market for internet technologyis rapidly growing. Lots of companies have a simple website, but professional websites with a content management system of highly advanced web portals with access for customers are still rare. As a candidate country for the EEC, Turkey and its economy are developing in a remarkable speed and according to that the amount of internet subscriptions.
